Ditch Your Old Deodorant

Updated: Nov 29, 2023

If you're still using a non natural deodorant, aka an antiperspirant, that’s full of aluminum I highly suggest you make the switch asap! Natural deodorants have become very popular as of late when it started to be known that the aluminum found in most deodorants is harmful to the body. I wanna go over the facts with you and maybe, hopefully convince you to make the switch!

First of all what is aluminum and why is it in our deodorants anyway? Aluminum is a metal found in almost every deodorant, specifically antiperspirants which is the type of deodorant that prevents sweating. The aluminum blocks the sweat ducts in our armpits and basically clogs them up. Sounds bad already huh? Especially since we are supposed to sweat!

Not the mention we have important lymph nodes in our armpits that are supposed to help our immune systems. Our skin absorbs what we put on it. When we put unnecessary aluminum under our armpits, it's getting absorbed into the skin as well as the lymph nodes. What is right next to our armpits? That's right, our breasts. Aluminum is a no no because it is linked to breast cancer and Alzheimers.

Honestly, the subject of what we put into our cosmetic products needs a lot more research. In America we put so much chemicals and preservatives into our food and products that other countries don't. It’s time to start being more aware of what we are putting on our skin and into our bodies. Starting off by changing deodorants is a step in the right direction for our health.

I made the switch years ago and I love the natural deodorant that I use. I've tried many of them but my absolute favorite is by the beauty brand called Kopari. Not only do their deodorants smell amazing but their full of amazing ingredients including coconut oil and the formula actually works! I will leave a link so you can check out the exact deodorant I've been using for years now.

Just a little warning, when you do decide to make the switch to an aluminum free natural deodorant… your armpits will smell. This is totally normal! Since you’ve been using a deodorant that has aluminum in it you sweat ducts are clogged. When you switch, your pits go through a detox stage and will smell more than usual. After about 6 weeks this should subside. To help speed up the detox process drink a lot of water and get your sweat on!

Disclaimer: Natural, aluminum free deodorant will not prevent you from sweating. It allows your body to sweat and controls the odor.

So hopefully I’ve encouraged you to make the switch or at least start paying more attention to the ingredients that are in our products and food. It's so important for us to take care of our bodies to the best of our abilities 💕

Wishing you a beautiful day 🌿

Much Love,

Bellamy Ryder
