Homemade Honey Coffee Scrub

Updated: 6 days ago

Get ready to achieve your healthiest, softest, most glowing skin for this spring and all year round!

Body scrubs have been a staple in my beauty routine for years now. I’ve tried tons of different brands at this point but over the years I’ve become, what you could call a body scrub snob. Now that I know exactly what I’m looking for in a body scrub, any random scrub from the store won't cut it.

It needs to be coarse enough to really exfoliate the skin without dissolving fast or sudsing up (can’t stand that). It needs to be super moisturizing and healing. It needs to be made with all natural ingredients, no chemicals or harsh fragrances. And of course it needs to smell good because that's all part of the experience!

If you’ve used a body scrub or even just gazed over them at stores, then you probably know how pricey they can be! Especially if this is something you use a lot like myself, you might not want to be dropping money on the regular.

That is exactly why I decided to make my own scrub with ingredients that I already have or that are super affordable to purchase. It took a few tries but I finally got down my perfect body scrub formula! Let’s go over how I make my Homemade Honey Coffee Scrub so you can treat your skin too!

Homemade Honey Coffee Scrub Recipe

What you’ll need:

  • 2 tbsp organic honey - for anti aging, antioxidants, and moisturizing.

  • ½ cup white sugar - for exfoliation.

  • ⅓ cup coffee grounds - for exfoliation, scent, brightening, cellulite appearance reduction.

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil - for moisturizing and anti aging.

  • 10 drops vitamin E oil - for brightening dark spots, sun spots and glowing skin.

  • Glass sealable jar - for the environment and wallet.

How to prepare:

  • Combine the white sugar and coffee grounds into the jar and mix until evenly distributed.

  • Mix in the honey, olive oil, vitamin E and scrub away!

I do recommend keeping the batches small as it is made from natural ingredients and does not contain any self stabilizers (ingredients that make the self life longer for skin care products). This batch typically lasts me about a month and I use the scrub about twice a week on any dry, bumpy areas of my body. Once in a while I do a full body scrub which is amazing and definitely recommended! The best part is, if you run out you already have the ingredients on hand to whip up more!

My Homemade Honey Coffee Scrub is perfect for:

  • Full body exfoliation

  • Bumpy “chicken skin”

  • Dry areas like knees/elbows

  • Faux tan preparation

  • After sun care

  • Hand/foot scrub

  • Lip scrub

  • Scalp scrub

  • DIY gifts

I don’t recommend using this or any other sugar based scrub on the face. Sugar grains are sharp and can cause micro-tears on the delicate facial skin. Micro-tears can lead to unwanted texture and acne. Same goes for any scrub that contains walnut shells. While they are beneficial for the body, the skin on the face is different. If you are looking to use this on your face, simply make it without the sugar and use more of a very finely grounded coffee.

I can't wait for you to give this body scrub a try! Feel free to change up any of the ingredients to perfectly tailor this scrub to you! You can even add in a few drops of your favorite essential oil. The possibilities are endless. Be sure to let me know if you give this recipe a go!

Happy scrubbing!

Wishing you a beautiful day 🌿

Much Love,

Bellamy Ryder
