Morning Routine Magic
Updated: 6 days ago
The power of a good morning routine has been greatly under estimated. The way you start the day is more important than you think!
Imagine this...
It's Monday and your alarm goes off to get up for work, class, whatever you gotta do. You press snooze a couple times because your finding it hard to get out of your comfy, warm bed (understandable). Finally you realize the time and jump out of bed in a tizzy. You're rushing around trying to get yourself ready to leave on time. You're in a fog since you gave yourself no time to wake up. Theres no time for coffee and you forgot something important. Now you're rushing out of the door to your car only to speed off and race to where you have to be.
Sound familiar? We've all been there.
Now, imagine this...
It's Monday morning, you set your alarm for a couple hours before you actually have to leave so you actually have time to press snooze once and cuddle in your bed for a few moments. You slowly get out of bed feeling calm because you know you have a couple of hours before you need to be anywhere. You head to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee and you're able to sit down in your home and enjoy that hot coffee. While relaxing on the couch sipping coffee you're able to check the weather, go through emails, mediate, and take some time to gratitude journal. After that, you have all this time to get ready and prepared for the day. You forget nothing and are able to relax on your commute.
I don't know about you, but the second scenario sounds a lot better to me!
Often times, we don't give ourselves the time that we need in the mornings. We're all guilty of it. We stay up late and try to sleep in until the last minute or simply have a hard time getting out of bed.
The thought of waking up earlier in order to have a morning routine might sound awful. If it does, read the above scenarios again.
Having a good morning routine that sets you up for success is life changing. We wake up in a neutral state of mind, what we do after we wake up sets the tone for the day. Healthy morning routines reduce stress and anxiety and increases productivity and mood.
Having something to look forward to upon waking up helps a ton! And it's different for everyone. For me, it's making a hot cup of coffee, putting some eye gels on, and relaxing before I start my day. I also love to write in my planner. I jot down my to do list and at least three things that I'm grateful for. This sets me up for a day of feeling organized, empowered, happy, and grateful.
Creating time for ourselves is super important for our overall well being. The hardest part is starting. My advice for that is, just do it! Seriously, you have the power to change your routine and if you want to have a better morning in order to have a better day, you'll just do. Once you start, it'll become easier. This goes for pretty much everything in life.
If you don't really know where to start in creating your perfect morning routine, I have some ideas for you! I also linked some of my favorite products that I use in the mornings;
Set your alarm so that you have plenty of time for yourself & to get ready for the day
Get some eye gels to put on after waking up, this really awakens the eyes
Go out for a walk
Get your workouts done in the morning
Write down everything you need to do in a planner
Write down at least three things that you are grateful for that day
Read a good book
Mediate and/or deep breathing exercises
Stretching
Make a nutritious breakfast
Take a shower & do skincare after
Do your makeup & hair
Do some journaling
The possibilities are endless! Play around with your new morning routine for a couple weeks and you will find what works for you and your lifestyle. I hope this might have been the little push you needed to improve your mornings. Trust me, your future self will thank you!
