Thinking Critically
Updated: 4 hours ago
As I experience more life, I’ve begun to notice that there is a narrative that most Americans live by.
We all learn the same subjects in school, therefore we all share the same general knowledge. A lot of us consume news and mainstream media, therefore we are all told the same information and events that are happening in our country and in the world. Our parents most likely got a similar education to us and most likely get their world updates from mainstream media, therefore relaying their habits onto us naturally and subconsciously. Most of us go onto working for someone else's company/business. Many share the same notions when it comes to matters of health and wellness. Many grow up religious to continue on throughout life with that one belief system.
In general, I’ve noticed how most people do what they're told/taught, accept what they learn, and believe to be fact what they are told from parents, mainstream media, and teachers. Society has a problem with questioning things, forming independent thoughts, and accepting and believing anything other than what they were taught in school and told on the news.
In other words, the general society lacks critical thinking skills big time. I'm not attacking anyone, it’s not our fault, the school systems have failed us miserably. They are in fact put into place and structured the way they are to program us, not educate us.
Infamous John D. Rockefeller, who’s had lots to do with many social structures, said it himself…
“I don't want a nation of thinkers, I want a nation of workers.”
It’s why we receive 12 years of schooling only to be kept from learning about life. Why aren't we being taught way more about our own human bodies, how they function, and how to actually take care of them. We don't learn nearly enough sexual education, resulting in a sexually repressed/distressed nation resulting in far more serious personal issues. We learn a somewhat fake dumbed down version of history. We're not taught about money, taxes, or investing. We’re taught how to take tests instead of gaining deep knowledge. I could go on.
In my second year of university, I was fortunate enough to take a critical thinking course. At the time I didn't even know what the class was about but I’m so grateful now that I got that opportunity because it has changed my life.
Critical thinking is defined as the ability to interpret, verify, and reason, all of which involve applying the principles of knowledge.
It was the first time in my life that I was ever told to question things. The very first thing I learned in that class was that everything I was ever taught in school and every show, movie, news station, book, article, search engine, song is mostly controlled by the government. In university, however, there is freedom with the curriculum the professor wants to teach.
At first, I thought “okay no big deal, I don’t see why that would be a bad thing”. Then we started learning about the history of America. I thought I just spent the last 12 years learning history. Wrong. I learned the history that our government wants us to learn. She knew of a book “A People's History of the United States”. Which reveals many truths about our history and connects directly with the narrative that we learn through life. I’ll give a few examples…
It was a black man who started the enslavement of black people. If you were rich you could buy a slave, however, we are taught that the white man started slavery.
Christopher Columbus did not find America rather than steal it from the indigenous people & took everything from them even though they welcomed Columbus and his people when they arrived. They brought them gifts and a warm welcome in return for theft, murder, rape, and ultimately enslavement.
We learn of one speech that MLK Jr. gave when he had endless other amazing speeches and was so proactive at making our world truly a better place. It should make you wonder why great leaders get taken out via assassination.
They use just about everything we consume to teach us their narrative. They also subliminally teach us that questioning things, going against popular belief, and forming your own thoughts, opinions, ideas, and theories is bad by labeling you as crazy.
So, we grow up with this notion that believing, other than what we see on the news and learn in school, is crazy. Nobody wants to seem crazy or be labeled as a conspiracy theorist. What people want is to fit in whether we are conscious of it or not, most of us conform to society in some way or another. It’s human nature.
This notion has successfully created a robot-like nation. We graduate from school, get a job, get married, have kids, watch the news, save for retirement, go to work everyday, come home, eat and go to sleep. Society almost doesn't even get a chance to think about things. We are kind of told how life goes and we blindly go along with that narrative.
I’m not saying any of that is bad. I am saying that unconsciously going along with the script of society isn’t good. We must question things. We must do what it is we want to do, not what society expects. We must form independent thoughts and go off to do your own research on matters of our country and the world to educate ourselves. We do not need teachers and the news to do that.
I’m writing this blog post now because there are many things happening in the world currently. I will not go into specifics because this post might get censored and deleted. I will say that 2019 - 2021 and possibly beyond will go down in history. Generations after us will learn about this time as we are living through the world's greatest conspiracy. And it is not a theory.
Note that, people in China and other countries appreciate and know the fact that when something is censored, removed, and banned from the internet, that is the truth that is trying to be hidden.
Society has allowed so much corruption to happen right under our noses by being asleep. By being in that robotic state of mind for so long we don’t see what is right in front of our eyes. We've allowed them to feed us a distorted version of reality and what's actually happening in the world. We’ve allowed them to brainwash us into thinking they have our best interest at heart. That is, until it gets so bad that we have no choice but to awaken into a brutal reality.
I urge you to seek other sources of information. I encourage you to go down the rabbit hole, what you will find will open your eyes. We are not being told the whole story. Propaganda is very much still alive. Nothing is as it seems. The state of our country and our world is extremely fragile. For the world to start changing the darkness had to take over to make us start searching for the light. Humanity needed to be awakened.
Use critical thinking skills in all aspects of life. Seek knowledge. You have your own mind for a reason.
P.S. You can start by using the search engine - duckduckgo as it is not censored.
Wishing you a beautiful day 🌿
Much Love,
